Jonathan and Jose: The CVS Experience
No National Disability Employment Awareness Month would be complete without recognizing the tremendous commitment to inclusion made by CVS. For many years, CVS has welcomed Triangle Program participants into their best-in-class training programs and helped launch many successful careers in the process.
Currently Triangle has two aspiring individuals from the Malden Day Program working with CVS. Jonathan and Jose embarked on their CVS Training Program journey in August 2023 and during these last few months they have been training and working on skills that necessary for a successful career. Let’s take a closer look at their journey.
Virtual Soft Skills Training (August 22nd to September 19th)
To start off their journey, Jonathan and Jose engaged in a comprehensive soft skills training and attended a CVS Application. This training focused on essential soft skills such as communication, customer service, and teamwork. The CVS Application Day at the Mock CVS Store in Boston allowed them to received guidance from Employment Support staff, who walked them through the job application process.
Externships (September 25th to October 23rd)
The next phase of their journey involved participated in externships. During this time Jonathan and Jose put their new skills into practice. These externships helped serve as a vital hand-on experience that allowed them to gain knowledge about working in a retail store environment.
Jonathan and Jose participated in his externship two days a week at different CVS locations in Malden. Jonathan’s responsibilities include janitorial work, ensuring the stores cleanliness, and assisting with customer service as needed. This provided him a well-rounded understanding of the day-to-day operations in a CVS store. Meanwhile, Jose’s duties encompassed facing items on the shelves, dusting and disinfecting, and provided warm welcomes to customers. His friendliness with customers helped create a positive shopping experience.
With their externships coming to an end, Jonathan and Jose are looking forward to their CVS Register Training Day on October 24th and their CVS Training Program graduation day on October 26th. This graduation represents the culmination of their hard work and dedication over the last several months.
