Embracing Independence and Friendship at Triangle, Inc.

Published by TJ Scalese on

At Triangle, Inc., every individual’s journey is a testament to the power of community, support, and personal growth. For Kyle, a dedicated participant at Triangle’s Malden day program for the past seven years, his journey has been transformative, filled with learning, friendship, and newfound independence. He recently spoke at our annual Golf Classic where he shared his story to everyone. “I love coming to Triangle because I have made many great friends and learned many skills that have helped me to become more independent.”

For the past three years, Kyle has been working at Dick’s Sporting Goods as part of the maintenance staff, a role he is incredibly passionate about. “This is my dream job, and I love it very much,” Kyle said with a smile. “My job is to keep the whole building clean, including the sales floor, offices, break rooms, and bathrooms.” He credits the staff at Triangle who “helped [him] get this job.” They are dedicated in their support and he was very thankful for the job coaching when he first started.

The support from Triangle doesn’t stop at job placement. The organization has also helped Kyle with travel training, enabling him to take the Ride to work independently. “This makes me feel much more independent,” Kyle proudly stated. It’s this sense of independence that drives Kyle to continue growing and helping others.

Kyle remains a dedicated participant in Triangle’s day programs, where he continues to build his skills and enjoy outings with friends. “I like coming to day programs to continue to work on my skills and to spend time with my friends,” he stated, and his favorite activities include mini-golf and trips to Revere Beach, moments that bring joy and camaraderie.

Beyond his personal achievements, Kyle is passionate about helping his peers achieve their own goals. “My goal is also to help my other friends in the program to get jobs, too,” he shared. “It is important for people to work so they can be independent and enjoy their time.”

Like anyone, Kyle faces challenges, but with the support of Triangle, he has learned to manage them effectively. “Sometimes, I can get frustrated, and Triangle has really helped me with my coping skills,” he explained. The sensory room at Triangle has become a safe haven for Kyle. He explained, “When I need a break, I can go into the sensory room and practice my coping skills.”

Kyle’s journey at Triangle emphasizes the importance of community, support, and personal determination. “I am very happy to have my friends and staff at Triangle to support me to reach my goals,” he concluded.
