Empowering People for Inclusive Communities (EPIC) equips young people with disabilities to achieve their dreams and lead their local communities. You’re much more likely to meet an EPIC leader volunteering at a local food pantry, working out at the YMCA, or attending Boston’s PRIDE parade than you are to meet them at one of Triangle’s locations. Every day EPIC youth are dedicated to making our schools, companies and communities a better place.
EPIC prepares young people with disabilities to be actively engaged community leaders through:
- EPIC Service Warriors. EPIC Service Warriors is a community service and education program for youth with disabilities between the ages of 16-23. EPIC Service Warriors meet for one year to participate in 12 community service projects in the Greater Boston Area. In addition to service, these young leaders participate in 6 leadership development days to explore topics such as political literacy and disability history. By creating the change they want to see in the world the Service Warriors learn more about local communities and develop practical skills that will help them develop as leaders and pursue future goals. We believe that every young person has a Warrior within. If you or someone you love is ready to free your inner Service Warrior apply now!
- EPIC Community Trainings. Our inclusive training teams offer individuals with and without disabilities the opportunity to explore topics such as disabilities, ableism, and inclusion. We’re eager to partner with your school, company, nonprofit or youth group to create a more EPIC world.
- EPIC Youth Support Groups. Leadership skills and friendships are gifts that grow over time. We are proud to partner with the Multi-Cultural Independent Living Center of Boston (MILCB) to offer three monthly youth support groups – EPIC Youth Nights, QueerAble, and the EPIC Alumni Group – that provide the support, challenge and opportunity youth need to develop EPIC lives.
Once a year EPIC also leads Boston Serve, a massive one-day serve-a-thon where the EPIC Service Warriors lead teams of corporate and community volunteers who want to make a difference for Boston Public Schools. In November 2015 over 150 community and corporate partners joined us for Boston Serve and we made an EPIC difference for the students of the Roger Clap Innovation School!
